Germany to keep core lineup against Ivory Coast in Toronto

Sunday's early-morning WIB clash will decide the Group E lead after Germany beat Curacao 7-1 and Ivory Coast edged Ecuador 1-0.

Germany will again field its strongest lineup when it meets Ivory Coast in a Group E match at the 2026 World Cup at BMO Field in Toronto on Sunday (21/6) WIB. Coach Julian Nagelsmann sees no reason to change his starting XI after his team opened with a 7-1 rout of Curacao. He only left room for a few adjustments so Germany would be better prepared to handle counterattacks. The match brings together two teams level on three points after Ivory Coast beat Ecuador 1-0. Nagelsmann said the opponent is difficult to read because it has used different systems from World Cup qualifying to the Africa Cup, with strength in physicality, speed, and one-on-one duels.
