Gaza deaths since October ceasefire top 1,000 as truce talks continue

What's next: Mediators are circulating a revised roadmap as Israel still controls more than 60% of Gaza, and Hamas is reviewing the proposal.

More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in Gaza since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire took effect in October 2025, according to Gaza health officials, underscoring how fragile the truce remains. The Gaza Health Ministry put the toll at 1,005 on Wednesday, while Reuters later cited 1,008 after a strike on a vehicle in Gaza City killed three people. Israel says it has kept striking to prevent attacks by Hamas and other militant groups, and says four Israeli soldiers have been killed during the same period. The latest violence comes as mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Turkey push a revised ceasefire roadmap after Hamas and other Palestinian factions submitted their response.
