Ganjar deems Kaesang eligible to run in Central Java V, Solo

Ganjar Pranowo said Kaesang Pangarep is eligible to run as a candidate for the DPR from Central Java V in the 2029 election. The PDI Perjuangan DPP chairman said every citizen has the right to run from any electoral district, including Solo, because political rights are guaranteed by the constitution. He also dismissed the idea that Kaesang's presence would split the vote in PDIP's base. According to Ganjar, competition in the district covering Surakarta, Boyolali, Klaten, and Sukoharjo should give voters room to make their choice freely. He remained confident Central Java would stay a PDIP vote bank, including in the district that is also a base for Puan Maharani. Earlier, Kaesang said he would run in the 2029 legislative election from Central Java V and focus his political work in Solo. From the PSI camp, Bestari Barus said the placement aligns with the party's target of making Central Java a “gajah home.”
