FIFA investigates Argentina players’ clash after final vs Spain

FIFA has opened an investigation into the clash after the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, on Sunday (19/7). FIFA’s disciplinary committee appointed disciplinary and ethics prosecutors to assess alleged violations after the final whistle in Spain’s 1-0 win. Match footage showed Nahuel Molina involved with Rodri, while Leandro Paredes appeared to choke Eric Garcia and shove Gavi. Thiago Almada and assistant coach Roberto Ayala were also said to be involved. FIFA said players or staff could be suspended, while the Argentina Football Association faces a possible fine. In the match, Enzo Fernandez was first sent off by referee Slavko Vincic in second-half stoppage time.
