Fifa ousts COO Kevin Lamour after clash over Infantino plan

Fifa ended chief operating officer Kevin Lamour's tenure on Aug. 17, less than three weeks after he publicly criticized President Gianni Infantino's failed plan to sell stakes in football competitions to private investors. In July, Lamour called the proposal "the project of one person" and said Fifa's administration had been "deceived." Fifa later dropped the plan on Aug. 1. Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom told staff the sides had agreed to part ways. The move drew fresh criticism from European football figures, including Uefa vice-president Laura McAllister, who said Lamour's dismissal sent a "deeply troubling message" to those pushing for change in world football governance.
