ESDM sets 2027 oil lifting target at 612,500 bpd

As of July 31, 2026, output was only 578,156 bpd, held back by declines at Blok Cepu and a pipeline disruption in Blok Rokan.

The ESDM Ministry has set a 2027 oil lifting target of 612,500 barrels per day, slightly above the 2026 target of 610,000 barrels per day. In a working session with Commission XII of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday, ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said the increase would be supported by additional wells in Madura to be developed by Petronas, potential wells in Sumatera, and extra output from enhanced oil recovery technology. For 2027, gas lifting is proposed at 954,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, bringing total oil and gas lifting to about 1.56 million BOEPD. However, the 2026 target is still lagging: as of July 31, oil realization stood at just 578,156 barrels per day. Bahlil said natural production declines in Blok Cepu from 185,000 to 140,000 barrels per day, as well as a leak in PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia's pipeline and a power disruption in Blok Rokan, also weighed on output.
