Epstein aide Lesley Groff sits for House Oversight interview

What's next: Bill Gates is due before the panel Wednesday as lawmakers widen their review of the government's handling of Epstein-related cases.

Lesley Groff, Jeffrey Epstein's longtime executive assistant, gave a closed-door transcribed interview Tuesday to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in Washington. Groff worked for Epstein from 2001 until his 2019 arrest on sex-trafficking charges, and lawmakers have been examining the federal government's handling of cases tied to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Groff has not been charged with a crime, and her lawyer has said she had no criminal involvement. PBS reported Groff's name appears more than 160,000 times in Justice Department files tied to Epstein. Committee Chair James Comer said the panel has already referred two unidentified names to the Justice Department.
