Egypt's ambassador hopes Timnas Indonesia reach World Cup 2030
The hope comes after Indonesia missed the 2026 World Cup following losses to Arab Saudi and Irak in the fourth qualifying round.
Egypt's Ambassador to Indonesia Yasser Hassan Farag Elshemy hopes the national team can appear at the 2030 World Cup. He conveyed that hope during the 74th anniversary of the 1952 Egyptian Revolution in Jakarta on Wednesday, and prayed that Indonesia would secure a strong finish in the next edition. The wish came after Indonesia failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The Garuda squad lost 2-3 to Arab Saudi and then fell 0-1 to Irak in Group B of the fourth qualifying round, finishing last. Separately, Youth and Sports Minister, who also serves as PSSI chairman, Erick Thohir said President Prabowo Subianto had asked for preparations toward the 2030 qualifiers, which he said would begin in September next year.
