Drought spreads across West Java, leaving over 10,000 without water

A drought driven by a prolonged dry season has spread across West Java, triggering a clean-water crisis for more than 10,000 residents. BPBD Jawa Barat said the impact has reached six regencies and one city: Kabupaten Garut, Kabupaten Bogor, Kabupaten Bekasi, Kabupaten Karawang, Kabupaten Pangandaran, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, and Kota Sukabumi. In Kabupaten Bekasi, aid deliveries continue. On Monday, 13 July 2026, BPBD Kabupaten Bekasi distributed 380,000 liters of clean water to about 2,416 households in three affected districts. In Desa Ridogalih, Cibarusah, residents lined up with buckets and jerrycans to collect water from tank trucks as sources began to dry up during the dry season.
