DPRD Bandung pushes corporate charges after 10 trees cut
Bandung city leaders are urged to pursue criminal and civil cases over the Riau Street tree cutting, not stop at a warning.
Chair of Commission I of the Bandung City DPRD Radea Respati Paramudhita is pushing for tougher legal action over the cutting of 10 large trees in front of a padel court on Jalan LLRE Martadinata or Jalan Riau. He said the cutting, which began on 29 Juni 2026, was suspected not to be the act of an individual but an organized activity requiring structure, equipment and supporting vehicles. Radea said the case should be brought into the realm of corporate criminal liability so responsibility does not stop at field workers, but can extend to beneficial owners, managers and commissioners if their involvement is proven. He also urged a civil suit to seek compensation and environmental restoration. Earlier, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan had issued a stern warning, while Pemkot Bandung escalated the handling from a minor violation to a serious violation.
