DPR proposes mandatory business ties for KDKMP with BUMN, private firms

The proposal would revise the Cooperative Law, BUMN Law and Kadin Law so partnerships go beyond CSR support.

Deputy Chairman of House Commission VI Nurdin Halid has proposed that Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih be required to connect through business partnerships with BUMN and private companies. He said the cooperatives should not stop as administrative bodies, but should grow into productive and competitive business actors. Nurdin said ties between cooperatives and BUMN and private companies have mostly taken the form of appeals or corporate social responsibility support. He urged that approach be turned into concrete business cooperation so cooperatives gain broader access to markets and business networks. He said the proposal should be reinforced through updates to the Cooperative Law, the BUMN Law and the Kadin Law. Nurdin presented the idea in Jakarta on Sunday, 30 August 2026, citing the spirit of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution on joint enterprise and family principles.
