DPR Continues Debating Asset Seizure Bill During Recess
Komisi III can still hold meetings through mid-August as DPR targets completion of the bill in 2026.
DPR has cleared the way for Komisi III to keep discussing the RUU Perampasan Aset during the recess period from late July to mid-August 2026. Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said any committee that wants to hold legislative meetings during recess may do so as long as it follows the permit mechanism. He said the talks need to move faster amid public pressure that says DPR is not seriously handling the draft, even though public hearings have been under way for more than two months. Earlier, Komisi III chairman Habiburokhman raised three issues in the draft: the name of the bill, oversight to prevent authorities from abusing their powers, and the model for managing assets obtained through seizure. DPR aims to finish the bill in 2026.
