DKI urges offices and schools to use WFH, remote learning on Aug. 18

The policy follows a letter from Mensesneg, with essential services such as health, transport and banking asked to keep operating.

The DKI Jakarta provincial government has urged companies to offer work-from-home options and schools to conduct remote learning on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026. The policy is set out in Circular Letter No. 26/SE/2026 from the DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Office and Circular Letter No. 87/SE/2026 from the DKI Jakarta Education Office. Governor Pramono Anung said the move follows the central government's directive through Letter No. B-17/M/S/TU.00.03/08/2026 from the Minister of State Secretary to give people room to celebrate and reflect on the 81st anniversary of RI. Companies are still asked to adjust WFH to operational needs, maintain productivity and fulfill workers' rights. Sectors that serve the public directly, including health, banking, telecommunications, energy, security, public order and transportation, are asked to arrange staffing proportionally so services remain optimal.
