Owners whose motorbikes were towed must sign statements, and repeat violations could face stiffer sanctions.
The South Jakarta Transportation Agency cleared 21 motorbikes parked on the sidewalk on Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio, in front of ITC Kuningan, Setiabudi, on Thursday afternoon (16/7). A joint team from Sudinhub, TNI, Polri, and Satpol PP gave owners 10 minutes to move their vehicles before the unattended motorbikes were towed.
South Jakarta Sudinhub Operations Controller Ebenezer Tobing said the move was aimed at restoring the sidewalk's function for pedestrians. Owners who arrived during the enforcement were warned not to repeat the violation. Meanwhile, owners whose motorbikes were towed were required to sign a stamped statement at the South Jakarta Sudinhub office.
One motorbike owner, Bayhaqi, said he parked on the sidewalk after being directed by an illegal parking attendant and paid Rp3.000.
