Dedi Mulyadi targets leaner West Java bureaucracy at 81st anniversary

The West Java government will prioritize spending on education, health care and narrowing regional gaps across the province.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi marked West Java's 81st anniversary with a target to streamline the bureaucracy and direct the budget first to basic services. At a plenary session and commemoration at Gedung Sate, Bandung, on Wednesday night, Dedi said West Java's energy, agriculture, maritime and industrial potential has not been matched by even development across regencies and cities. He said budget reviews are key to shifting spending from administrative items to technical needs in the community. Those priorities include education, such as new classrooms, scholarships, and package A, B and C programs, as well as health services from village level to higher-level referrals. Dedi also pointed to economic disparities between Bekasi and areas such as Majalengka, Kuningan and Indramayu, while urging more investment to create jobs.
