Crocodile sighting halts water sports at Singapore's Pandan Reservoir
What's new: PUB and NParks are searching for and trying to capture what they believe is an estuarine crocodile.
Water activities at Singapore's Pandan Reservoir were suspended after a crocodile was spotted there on Aug. 20, prompting search and capture operations by PUB and the National Parks Board. The sighting was reported at about 3 p.m., and PUB told the Singapore Rowing Association and Singapore Canoe Federation to stop activities at the reservoir. Authorities said the animal is likely an estuarine crocodile based on a photo provided to PUB. Warning signs are being installed around the reservoir, and the public was urged to stay calm, back away and avoid approaching or feeding the animal if they encounter it.
