Court hears roommate say Charlie Kirk suspect confessed in texts
What's new: Testimony described messages apologizing for the shooting and laying out an alleged motive and plan to recover a rifle.
A Utah court heard testimony that Tyler Robinson, the man charged with killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, confessed to the shooting in text messages to his roommate and later expressed regret. During Robinson's preliminary hearing, Utah State Bureau of Investigation Agent Brian Davis read messages in which Robinson allegedly wrote, "I am. I'm sorry," after roommate Lance Twiggs asked if he had carried out the attack. Davis also testified Robinson wrote that he had "had enough of his hatred" and described trying to retrieve a rifle after the Sept. 10, 2025, shooting outside a Prove Me Wrong event at Utah Valley University in Orem. Recordings of Twiggs' police interview were also played in court.
