Colombia beat DR Congo 1-0 to reach World Cup knockout stage

What's next: A draw against Portugal in the final Group K match would be enough for Colombia to finish first.

Colombia clinched a place in the World Cup knockout stage with a 1-0 win over DR Congo in Group K on Tuesday in Guadalajara, Mexico. Daniel Muñoz scored in the 76th minute, his second goal in as many games, as Colombia broke through after a series of saves by DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi. The result gave Colombia a second straight win and left top spot in the group within reach. The Guardian reported Colombia had 20 shots, with several efforts denied or ruled out, before Muñoz's deflected strike finally beat Mpasi. Colombia can now secure first place with a draw against Portugal in its final group match.
