Closing 1,000 Illegal Mines Lifts PT Timah Output

Ore production at TINS rose 75 percent in the first half of 2026, while net profit surged 805 percent.

Crackdowns on illegal tin mines in Bangka Belitung are seen giving PT Timah Tbk, or TINS, room to recover production and sales. The government aims to close about 1,000 illegal mines, while President Prabowo Subianto has estimated shadow mining accounts for about 80 percent of total tin output in the region. The Indonesian Tin Exporters Association also estimates up to 12,000 tons of tin are exported illegally each year. As the enforcement continues, TINS ore production in the first half of 2026 reached 12.232 tons Sn, up about 75 percent from the same period a year earlier. Revenue rose to Rp10,42 trillion and net profit jumped to Rp2,71 trillion, supported by higher volumes and tin prices on the London Metal Exchange.
