CJ Hendry flower pop-up in Singapore draws 120-minute lines

What's new: Plush blooms priced at S$7 each were already being resold online, while organizers posted live queue updates and added crowd controls.

Australian artist CJ Hendry’s Flower Market pop-up at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore drew long queues and a rush for its plush flower stems on opening day, with wait times reaching 120 minutes. The installation, running from June 10 to June 14 at the IMBA Theatre Gallery, gives each visitor one free plush flower and sells additional stems for S$7 each. Social media videos showed some visitors filling tote bags with flowers, prompting online criticism and speculation that some purchases were headed for resale. The Straits Times found more than 10 Carousell listings, including a seven-stem bouquet priced at up to S$91. IMBA said it had put in timed registrations, capacity controls, queue marshals and Instagram wait-time updates in place.
