Christiane Amanpour to leave CNN in 2027 after 43 years

What's next: She will end her daily CNN and PBS shows in late 2026, keep a weekly CNN program through May and depart in June.

Christiane Amanpour, CNN's chief international anchor and one of the network's best-known correspondents, will leave CNN in 2027 after 43 years. Amanpour said she decided to part ways with the network after months of consideration. Under the transition plan described by CNN and PBS, she will end her daily CNN International and PBS programs at the end of 2026, continue a weekly CNN show through May 2027 and leave the network the following month. Amanpour joined CNN in Atlanta in 1983 and rose to prominence covering the Gulf War, Bosnia, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Iran. Her departure comes as CNN is being integrated into Skydance's new media structure alongside CBS News.
