Chelsea sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa for £7.5 million

Chelsea signed Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa for about £7.5 million, adding the 33-year-old on a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge. Martinez leaves Villa after joining from Arsenal in 2020 and helping the club win the Europa League last season. He also won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina and collected back-to-back Yashin Trophies in 2023 and 2024. The move follows two summers in which Martinez had pushed for an exit. BBC Sport said it is the eighth transfer deal between Chelsea and Villa in the past four years, extending an unusually active trading relationship between the Premier League clubs.
