Central government channels up to Rp20.5 trillion for regional ASN pay
The funds prioritize full-time and part-time PPPK salaries in about 497-546 fiscally strained local governments.
The central government is disbursing up to Rp20.5 trillion in additional budget support to help regional governments pay personnel spending, especially salaries for regional ASN and PPPK. Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said the support reaches 546 regions worth Rp18.9 trillion, consisting of about Rp10 trillion in underpaid revenue-sharing funds and Rp8.9 trillion in additional general allocation funds. Separately, the Finance Ministry said the aid totals Rp20.5 trillion for about 497 local governments facing fiscal pressure after adjustments to the 2026 regional transfers. The disbursement is based on Finance Minister Decree No. 198 of 2026 and a DJPK letter dated Aug. 6, 2026. The government aims to prevent local governments from laying off PPPK and keep public services running.
