Carrick faces Man United exit after 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth
What's next: senior figures at Old Trafford are in talks over his future after United slipped to 16th with one win in eight league games.
Michael Carrick’s future at Manchester United is under serious threat after Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford deepened the club’s worst start to a Premier League season. United sit 16th and have won only one of eight league matches, while senior decision-makers at the club are discussing whether to make a change. The pressure rose further after Carrick left captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench for the full match, days after Fernandes publicly questioned the team’s tactics following a 4-1 Champions League loss at Como. Carrick told broadcasters the postgame applause for supporters was not a farewell, but former United players Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher both said a managerial change now looks likely.
