Car sales rise 15.8%, GIIAS 2026 to feature 65 brands
Vehicle exports from Indonesia also rose 7.7% to 251,705 units in the first half of 2026, supporting the auto industry outlook.
Gaikindo recorded wholesale car sales from factory to dealers in January-June 2026 at 436,564 units, up 15.8% from the same period a year earlier. The increase is underpinning the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, or GIIAS 2026, set for July 30-Aug. 9 at ICE BSD City, Kabupaten Tangerang. Gaikindo Chairman Putu Juli Ardika said domestic and export trends give the industry confidence to bring new models, technology and features to the exhibition. Vehicle exports from Indonesia in the first half of 2026 also rose 7.7% to 251,705 units. Organizers said GIIAS 2026 will feature more than 65 brands, the most in the event's history, including 10 brands participating for the first time.
