BSI targets Jeddah branch to open by January 2027
Building and IT preparations are 80 percent complete, but Saudi regulator approval will determine the phased launch schedule.
PT Bank Syariah Indonesia aims to start operations at its Jeddah branch in Saudi Arabia by January 2027 at the latest. BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo said the opening was initially targeted for late 2026, but the final schedule still depends on inspections and approval from local regulators. BSI will open a full branch, but banking services will be rolled out in stages as the company studies local market conditions. According to Anggoro, preparation of the office building and information technology systems has each reached about 80 percent. BSI must also meet staffing requirements, with 70 percent of employees coming from Saudi Arabia. In 2024, BSI received initial approval from Saudi Central Bank or SAMA to open an overseas branch in Jeddah.
