Bryan Kohberger has filed a petition seeking to withdraw the guilty plea that brought four life sentences in the 2022 stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students. Court records cited by ABC News show Kohberger, now representing himself, asked the Ada County District Court for post-conviction relief, arguing he received ineffective assistance of counsel and was pushed into a false confession by bad legal advice and false promises. Kohberger pleaded guilty last year in the killings of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. Prosecutors previously pointed to DNA on a knife sheath and phone data placing him near the house multiple times before the attack.
