Brimob exchanges gunfire with suspected bike thieves in Citra Raya Tangerang
The suspects fled, leaving behind a stolen Honda Beat that police secured; no injuries were reported.
A chase ended in a shootout in the Citra Raya area of Panongan, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Friday afternoon, when Brimob Polda Metro Jaya officers pursued two suspects in a motorcycle theft case. According to Polresta Tangerang public relations head Ipda Tri Leksono, the incident began after officers received a report of a Honda Beat stolen from a minimarket. During the search, police found the reported missing motorcycle and tried to stop the rider. Officers fired warning shots, but one of the suspects returned fire before fleeing. Police secured the victim’s motorcycle at the scene. Tri said there were no fatalities or injuries. Police are now questioning witnesses, collecting CCTV footage, and searching for projectiles believed to have been fired by the suspect.
