Brigadir Rizka gets 10 years in Brigadir Esco death case

Both prosecutors and defense filed appeals after judges said the assault stemmed from a Rp70 million debt due on 20 August 2025.

The Mataram District Court sentenced Brigadir Rizka Sintiani to 10 years in prison in the death case of her husband, Brigadir Esco Faska Rely, in Nusa Tenggara Barat. The panel of judges said Rizka was proven to have committed domestic physical abuse that led to the victim's death. The sentence was lighter than the 14-year prison term sought by prosecutors. After the verdict, the public prosecutor and the defendant's counsel both filed appeals. In its consideration, the court said the abuse was triggered by the victim's debt, which totaled Rp70 million and was due on 20 August 2025. Evidence included WhatsApp messages, testimony from a child who witnessed the violence, forensic autopsy results, and findings of an alleged attempt to destroy evidence and obscure the cause of death.
