Brentford rout Tottenham 3-0 as De Zerbi era opens with loss
What's new: Brentford scored through Keane Lewis-Potter, Vitaly Janelt and Michael Kayode and also missed a penalty.
Brentford opened the Premier League season with a commanding 3-0 home win over Tottenham Hotspur, handing Roberto De Zerbi a bruising first league game in charge of Spurs. Keane Lewis-Potter put Brentford ahead in the 12th minute after a move involving new signing Mamadou Sangaré and Igor Thiago. Vitaly Janelt doubled the lead before Michael Kayode added the third as Brentford overwhelmed Tottenham at the Gtech Community Stadium. Brentford could have won by more, but Thiago missed a penalty. The result capped a dominant display from Keith Andrews' side and raised immediate questions over Tottenham after a summer of heavy spending and a poor opening-day performance.
