BPK urges ESG and Government 5.0 in ministries

BPK identified 6 hurdles, from fragmented government data to a shortage of AI talent and cyber risks.

The Supreme Audit Agency, or BPK, is urging ministries and government agencies to adopt environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles and accelerate the transition to Government 5.0 in managing state resources. Acting BPK Member IV Nyoman Adhi Suryadnyana said the two approaches are needed together to improve governance and the quality of policy decisions. At the handover of audit reports on the 2025 financial statements at BPK headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday, he cited six main obstacles to Government 5.0: uneven digital transformation maturity, fragmented government data, limited AI talent, weak governance integrity, human resource capacity, and cybersecurity and collaboration. On that occasion, Kementerian PKP, Kementerian Kehutanan, Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan, and Badan Karantina Indonesia received unqualified opinions.
