An explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in Kudrinskaya Square, Moscow, on Saturday night (1/8) killed three people and injured 21 others. Russia's National Antiterrorism Committee said the improvised explosive device went off when security personnel stopped a woman carrying a suspicious package before she entered the restaurant. The three people killed were the woman carrying the bomb, a security guard and a customer. The Kommersant newspaper reported that investigators suspect the device, with the force of 1 kilogram TNT, was detonated remotely, while the woman carrying it may not have known what was inside the package. The target of the attack was believed to be guests on the restaurant's outdoor terrace, which was closed that night for a private event.
