Bobby prepares overhaul of Tetegewo Megalithic Site in Nias Selatan
North Sumatera province aims to improve the site’s layout, management and access to boost historical tourism in the Nias Islands.
North Sumatera Governor Bobby Nasution is preparing a comprehensive revitalization of the Tetegewo Megalithic Site in Hilisao'ötö Village, Siduaori District, Nias Selatan Regency. The move is intended to preserve the ancestral civilization heritage of the Nias people while developing Siduaori as a historical tourism destination. During a site visit with French Ambassador to Indonesia Fabien Penone on 17 July 2026, Bobby said the site holds hundreds of stone artifacts that are thousands of years old and important to the Nias indigenous community. The provincial government will improve the physical layout and management of the area, while residents also asked for better infrastructure to reach the hilltop site, which requires about a 200-meter walk from the vehicle drop-off point.
