BMKG detects 1,195 hot spots in Sumatera, 198 in Riau

Sumatera Selatan had 454 points, while wildfires in Riau were still being fought, including 64 hectares in Pelalawan.

BMKG Stasiun Pekanbaru detected 1,195 hot spots on Sumatera, with the largest concentrations in Sumatera Selatan at 454 points and Riau at 198 points in monitoring on Sunday, August 9. Other hot spots were spread across Jambi with 116, Lampung 127, Sumatera Utara 59, Sumatera Barat 43, Aceh 11, Bengkulu 17, Bangka Belitung 15 and Kepulauan Riau 12. In Riau, the highest numbers were in Indragiri Hulu at 98, Bengkalis 38 and Rokan Hilir 28. At the same time, firefighting against karhutla was still underway at several locations, including 64 hectares in Kelurahan Kerumutan, Pelalawan; 50 hectares in Sungai Guntung Hilir, Indragiri Hulu; and 10 hectares in Pematang Pudu, Bengkalis. Separately, BMKG Kepulauan Bangka Belitung on Monday, August 10, detected 40 hot spots and warned residents not to clear land by burning during the dry season.
