Blast at Pasar Cimanggis Ciputat Injures 8, Damages Shops
50 Brimob and Gegana personnel were deployed as police continued probing a possible LPG cylinder leak.
An explosion shook the Pasar Cimanggis shopping complex in Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday night, injuring eight people and damaging a number of stalls and shop houses. Ciputat Timur police chief Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq said the first report was received at about 18.15 WIB from market workers. The eight victims were then evacuated to RS Fatmawati and RS Sari Asih for treatment. Satbrimob Polda Metro Jaya deployed 50 personnel, including patrol teams, SAR teams and the Detasemen Gegana composite unit, to evacuate the area, secure the site, search the affected zone and maintain the perimeter. Initial information indicated the blast may have been linked to an LPG gas cylinder, but police are still investigating the exact cause.
