BKPM, Kemenpora sign MoU on sports investment permits
Government opens OSS access for the sports sector, with BKPM saying more than 250 permits have been issued under positive fictitious rules.
BKPM and the Ministry of Youth and Sports signed a memorandum of understanding to align risk-based business licensing and investment development in the sports sector in Jakarta on Friday (28/8/2026). Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said the sports industry could attract $521 billion in investment, equivalent to about Rp8.000 trillion, while also boosting tourism and other economic activity. Rosan said permit certainty was strengthened under PP No. 28 Tahun 2025, which allows the OSS system to issue permits automatically if service deadlines at relevant ministries are missed. He said more than 250 licenses have been issued through the positive fictitious mechanism. Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir added that the sports industry is growing about 8 percent a year.
