Bill Gates faces House questioning in Jeffrey Epstein probe

What's new: Lawmakers are expected to ask about meetings, emails and philanthropy ties after Justice Department files named Gates.

Bill Gates was scheduled to sit for a closed-door interview with the House Oversight Committee on June 10 as lawmakers widen their investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and the government’s handling of the case. Committee members plan to question the Microsoft co-founder about documents released by the Justice Department that include meetings, email exchanges and other contacts between Gates and Epstein. Gates has not been accused of wrongdoing and has denied knowing about Epstein’s abuse of underage girls. He has said their relationship, which began in 2011 and lasted until at least 2014, centered on philanthropy and was “a huge mistake.” Transcripts from the interview may be released later.
