BGN warns of scam promising faster MBG kitchen openings

Prospective partners were reportedly asked for money on the pretext of verification and validation papers for SPPG operations.

Badan Gizi Nasional warned of a surge in scams using the opening of Makan Bergizi Gratis kitchens, or Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi. The alleged scheme involves individuals approaching prospective partners, promising faster SPPG operations, then asking for money on the grounds that they are carrying official notes for verification and validation. BGN spokesman Tysa Novenny urged the public not to act on payment requests from unauthorized parties and to first check the identity of the intermediary and the information provided. Khairul Hidayati, head of BGN's Legal and Public Relations Bureau, added that using the institution's name for personal gain can carry legal consequences. BGN also asked residents to keep evidence of communication, the identity of the person making contact, and related documents for reporting through official channels.
