BGN revises 2027 MBG ceiling of Rp270.2 trillion for 81.5 million
BGN is reviewing beneficiary data, including a possible removal of 8 million affluent high school students from the MBG program.
Badan Gizi Nasional said the indicative 2027 ceiling of Rp270,201 trillion for the Makan Bergizi Gratis program is not final and is being revised with Kementerian Keuangan and Bappenas. The initial figure was set when the agency was still led by Dadan Hindayana, based on 81,534,454 beneficiaries. Deputy head Agustina Arumsari said the beneficiary list will be reorganized to make the program more targeted, so the number is expected to fall. One option under review is removing high school students from well-off families from the beneficiary list; the move could cut about 8 million recipients. In the 2027 budget document, the largest share is allocated to national nutrition fulfillment, with the rest set aside for management support.
