BGN halts MBG during school break, claims Rp3 trillion savings
The suspension runs June 22-July 13, 2026, covering pregnant women, nursing mothers and toddlers, with no SPPG incentives.
The National Nutrition Agency will halt distribution of the Free Nutritious Meals program during the school holiday from June 22 to July 13, 2026. The policy, set out in Circular Letter of the Head of BGN No. 12 of 2026, applies to all beneficiaries, including students, pregnant women, nursing mothers and toddlers. Unlike during Ramadan and earlier holidays, MBG will not be distributed in bundled packages this time. BGN deputy head Agustina Arumsari said the move was taken for efficiency, standardization and to reorganize Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi operations. BGN calculated that suspending SPPG facility incentives of Rp6 million per day at 27,820 units for 18 days could save about Rp3,004 trillion. During the break, SPPG will not operate, but security staff will remain on duty and basic costs such as electricity, water and internet will be paid based on actual needs.
