BGN cuts 80 elite private schools from MBG aid
The budget is being redirected to schools deemed more in need, while boarding schools with their own meal programs are also excluded.
The National Nutrition Agency has removed about 80 elite private schools from the list of recipients of the Free Nutritious Meals Program across Indonesia. BGN head Sudaryono said the screening of recipients was meant to ensure the budget is allocated more precisely, because the schools were considered capable of meeting their students’ nutritional needs on their own. The exemption also applies to a number of boarding schools that already have their own meal programs. Sudaryono cited SMA Taruna Nusantara as an example of a school not receiving MBG because students’ meals are already covered under an internal program. The list of exempted schools can be seen on Radar MBG. He named several schools that are not receiving MBG allocations, including Jakarta Intercultural School, Cikal, Taruna Nusantara, Kemala Bhayangkari, and Taruna Bhayangkara.
