BEM UBK threatens larger rally after closed-door mediation with Gibran

Students gave a 5x24 hour deadline for action on four demand clusters, from an MBG audit to non-subsidized fuel prices.

BEM Universitas Bung Karno is preparing a larger follow-up protest after a closed-door mediation with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Vice President's Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday, June 15, 2026. Muhammad Abdi Maludin, chairman of the BEM Faculty of Law UBK, said the mediation did not halt plans to take to the streets. He gave a 5x24 hour deadline after the meeting for student demands to be acted on. In the more than 60-minute meeting, attended by 15 student representatives, BEM UBK submitted a memorandum containing four clusters of demands: a transparent audit of the MBG project, redirecting MBG funds to UKT subsidies or campus operating costs, revising the Polri Law, intervention to stabilize the rupiah, and canceling the increase in non-subsidized fuel prices. Acting Vice President Secretary Al Muktabar said the students' input would be considered in line with authority.
