Bekasi Station extension begins, Rp80 billion investment

The 18-month project will add a new entrance and skybridge to Bekasi Station without changing platforms or the rail signaling system.

Construction of Bekasi Station Extension in Bekasi City, West Java, has officially begun as part of the Summarecon integrated transit area. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono inaugurated the project, which is aimed at strengthening connectivity and easing congestion at the existing Bekasi Station. According to Summarecon, the project is targeted for completion in 18 months with an investment of about Rp80 miliar. The new facility is not a separate station, but an expansion of the station area through an extension building and a skybridge connecting passengers to the existing station. The area, covering about 7.038 square meters with a 6.733 square meter building, is also being prepared to integrate with LRT Jabodebek, feeder buses, pedestrian paths, and a planned BRT.
