Bekasi begins building Rp3 trillion PSEL, 1,500 tons/day
The Ciketing Udik facility is targeted for completion in late 2027 and is projected to supply power to 55,000 homes.
Bekasi City officially began construction on a waste-to-energy plant, or PSEL, valued at about Rp3 trillion in Kelurahan Ciketing Udik, West Java, on Wednesday (26/8/2026). BPI Danantara is targeting completion in late 2027 with a processing capacity of 1,500 tons of waste per day, equivalent to more than 500,000 tons a year, or about 70 percent of waste generated in Bekasi. Danantara CIO Pandu Sjahrir said the project follows the European Industrial Emissions Directive environmental standard. The Bekasi PSEL is projected to cut emissions from the landfill by up to 80 percent, reduce carbon emissions by 640,000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year, supply electricity to 55,000 homes, create about 1,000 green jobs, and reduce landfill land needs by 90 percent.
