Bank Jakarta builds 2 organic waste biodigesters in North Jakarta

Combined capacity will reach 500 kg a day, with output projected at 37.5 cubic meters of biogas and 154.4 tons of CO2e cuts a year.

Bank Jakarta has begun building two communal biodigesters based on organic waste at Rusunawa Rorotan, Cilincing, and TPS 3R Rawa Badak Utara, North Jakarta. The groundbreaking took place on 10 August 2026 in Rorotan. The project is carried out through the company’s corporate social and environmental responsibility program and is part of Bank Jakarta’s 2026 Sustainable Finance Action Plan. Each unit is designed to process 250 kilograms of organic waste per day, for a total capacity of 500 kilograms per day. A technical study projects the two facilities will produce about 37.5 cubic meters of biogas per day and organic fertilizer residue, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by about 423 kilograms of CO2e per day. Bank Jakarta previously supported a similar installation in Pekayon, Pasar Rebo, which was inaugurated in November 2025.
