Bali fuel distribution slows, long lines disrupt economy

Fuel stations in Denpasar, Badung and Tabanan were prioritized after ship delays held up supplies at Manggis and Sanggaran.

Fuel distribution disruptions in Bali have triggered long lines at many fuel stations and disrupted mobility for residents, businesses and the tourism sector. Several sources said the main problem was not a surge in consumption, but delayed supply caused by ship-loading and unloading bottlenecks at the Manggis Fuel Terminal and the Sanggaran Fuel Terminal. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jatimbalinus added supplies, including 18.000 kiloliter pertalite and 2.500 kiloliter pertamax, as well as a total of 26.200 kiloliter of fuel in subsequent shipments. Average pertalite consumption in Bali is about 2.200 kiloliter per day. YLPK Bali called for an audit of distribution, disclosure of stock data, and monitoring of alleged irregularities so consumers are not harmed by queues and bulk buying.
