Bahlil urges PLTP concession holders to speed geothermal projects
The government is preparing tax incentives, revisions to two rules, and will offer 5 WKP and 7 survey areas in 2026.
Menteri ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia is urging developers of geothermal power plants that already hold concessions to move ahead with projects immediately and not sit on their work areas. At the Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday, he said faster execution is needed to strengthen energy sovereignty and the energy transition. Data from the Kementerian ESDM show Indonesia's geothermal potential reaches 23.202,77 MW, but installed capacity is only 2.776,39 MW, or about 11,6 percent. The government is preparing tax incentives, revisions to PP Nomor 7 Tahun 2017 and Perpres Nomor 112 Tahun 2022, and will hand geothermal permits for WKP Gunung Ungaran to PLN and WKP Telaga Ranu to PT Telaga Rano Geothermal. This year it is also preparing offers for five WKP and seven preliminary survey and exploration areas.
