Bahlil opens possibility of lower nonsubsidized fuel prices in August
The government is weighing the impact of lower global oil prices, while subsidized fuel prices are expected to stay unchanged through year-end.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia opened the possibility of lower nonsubsidized fuel prices in August 2026 as global crude prices weaken. He said the government is calculating the impact of the price changes and will hold a meeting with PT Pertamina Persero and other fuel distributors to decide on adjustments. Bahlil said the decision must take into account swings in Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) and global prices so it does not burden consumers or oil and gas businesses. Separately, he reported to President Prabowo Subianto that crude and fuel supplies are secure through the end of the year. On that basis, the government has ensured that subsidized fuel prices will not rise.
