Aston Villa take Garnacho on loan with buy clause tied to appearances
What's next: Villa expect the move to turn permanent next summer if the Argentina winger hits agreed performance triggers.
Aston Villa have added winger Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on a season-long loan that can convert into a permanent transfer next summer if agreed conditions are met. Neither club disclosed the exact triggers, but reports said they are linked in part to appearances and that Chelsea expect the clause to be activated. Garnacho, 22, has already agreed a four-year contract at Villa Park if the move becomes permanent. The deal comes days after Chelsea bought Morgan Rogers from Villa for a reported club-record £117 million. Villa manager Unai Emery said the Argentina international wanted to join the project as the club reshapes its squad while managing financial constraints.
