Aston Villa moves to sue Jamie Carragher over insults to fans
What's new: The dispute flared after Carragher said Unai Emery could want the Manchester United job and told Villa fans to "shut the fuck up."
Aston Villa said Friday it will begin legal action against former Liverpool defender and TV pundit Jamie Carragher over what the club called “unacceptable insults” aimed at Villa and its supporters. The statement, signed by chairman Nassef Sawiris, followed Carragher’s remarks on the Stick to Football podcast while discussing whether manager Unai Emery might be interested in taking over at Manchester United. Carragher argued there is a hierarchy in the sport, said “Aston Villa will never be Manchester United,” and told Villa fans to “shut the fuck up.” He later wrote on social media that the exchange was a joke and said his comments were made “in jest.”
